Rick
and Ida Griffin worked together in the 60's and created some
of the most memorable images of that era. Rick and Ida’s
years in San Francisco were truly an adventure of the spirit.
Working together in partnership on Rick’s graphics, they
added to the sixties legacy in a way that was unique and boldly
innovative. The creative balance within their loving union
created a fertile climate for their two daughters to grow and
for Rick’s graphic style to flourish. Griffin’s
opus from that era was not just the
outpouring of one young man but rather of his partnership
with Ida. and in a wider sense, a result of the “hippy” community
that nourished and supported them. The chronology of Rick’s
graphic accomplishments in the sixties chronicles his own spiritual
journey, in partnership with Ida, and in harmony with the heart
of San Francisco's counter culture movement. The two of them
were both influenced by that unique cultural environment, and
at the same time they influenced it-greatly adding to California’s
rich multi-cultural legacy.
